Sangiovese is Italy?s most famous and widely planted red wine variety with a history stretching back to ancient Roman times. It also has a rich history in the wine regions of North East Victoria, especially in the Alpine and King Valleys. Many Italian immigrants settled in the area to grow tobacco and yearning for a slice of their homeland, planted Sangiovese to make their own garage versions of Chianti. The Alpine Valleys have come a long way since then but the local love affair with Sangiovese remains. Our 2016 version is a touch richer and fuller than previous years, reflecting the warmer vintage conditions. It is bursting with flavours of dark cherries, ripe tomatoes, dried herbs and savoury spice. The abundant tannins are fine and talc-like, leaving the finish long and dry.
