W i n e & F o o d I t i n e r a r y

Who needs to plan an escape? I do! It’s been cold, wet and stressful, it’s time to do something indulgent and fun! A chance to have fun whilst supporting country Victorian tourism businesses, sounds pretty great to me! This itinerary is all about food and wine. We start at Feathertop Winery and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you. Like all our itineraries this could be planned as a weekend or mid week two night get away or extended to include other great activities.

Day One
We start by arriving at Feathertop Winery, book into the Peggy Adelaide Suite or Mt Buffalo View Apartment. Gaze upon the snow on the mountains upon on your arrival. Check in and unwind with your complimentary bottle of wine and afternoon nibbles – feel the stress roll off you as you build the excitement for tomorrow’s day of wine tastings and delicious food.

Day Two
Bounce out of bed… we’re sure you will be excited so you will bounce… Enjoy a breakfast from your breakfast hamper. We suggest you head up the valley first, just a 10 minute drive past Bright is the gorgeous town of Wandiligong. Home of the fantastic Nightingale Brothers Alpine Produce. Visit their produce store in a picturesque orchard setting. Nightingale’s grow a variety of apples of which they supply to grocers and supermarkets nationally. Nightingales also grow a range of nuts, persimmon, jams, pies, apple juice (sparkling and still with no added sugar or preservatives), and apple cider. All made using their own grown produce. Well worth a look and stock up directly from the farm gate. We suggest you stop in Bright for a coffee and morning snack, there are a range of cafés to choose from.

Next stop heads you back to Porepunkah and Ringer Reef Wines. The vineyard was established by Annie & Bruce Holm. In 2016 their son Mark and wife Julie took over the winemaking. They produce unique, handmade, High Country wines. You will need to pre-book your wine tasting, refer here.

Take a break from wine and head to Eurobin and the Buffalo Berry Farm. Pick from their range of blueberries, blackberries, berry pies, pancakes, berry cups, milkshakes, homemade gelato, jams and syrups. Grab some dessert for later. Delicious! You can pick your own berries during the picking season. Please contact them to find out more.

By now you will have worked up quite an appetite, we are sure. Let Feathertop arrange lunch for you. In the warmer months a Feathertop Picnic could be just the thing. Or anytime, let us arrange a full platter of local produce and wine at Cellar Door. We’ll fire up the fire pit in the cooler months – it is the perfect setting. Work you way through our large range of wines with winemaker Nick Toy or one of our team. Email us at [email protected] to let us help you plan your full visit. Sit back relax and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. For dinner let Feathertop suggest something for you. You may like a simple takeaway or dinner at the Porepunkah Pub. Alternatively let us book a table for you at one of the many local restaurants.

Day Three
Take your time this morning. Enjoy something from your breaky hamper or head to one of the local cafes for breakfast. Take a coffee and enjoy it by the river in Porepunkah. Or maybe visit, and pick up some produce, from that place you didn’t quite get to yesterday. Other ideas include visiting the Mt Buffalo Chalet, take a walk around and have lunch at Bright or any of the other small towns you ventured past yesterday. Slowly make your way home, we look forward to seeing you again next time.

Extend your stay and enjoy some of the many other activities, see our other suggested itineraries here.
