Well what a start to 2020.
Firstly, the team and I want to sincerely thank you for your calls of support. It was such a challenging time – preparing the property and ensuring in the first instance that all of our team were accounted for and safe, followed by a pressured evacuation, left us no time to answer calls, let alone return calls. But know that we felt well loved by you all.
I am happy to report, that at this point we are all safe and the fires haven’t reached our property. However, the next weeks and months will see a long and protracted fight that will put a strain on our regions’ resources – both physically and financially. To be transparent, we receive around 25% of our income between Christmas and the middle of January.
Having been through the 2003, 2006 and 2009 bushfires, we have learnt a lot of valuable lessons not only across bushfire preparedness, but equally how to recover so we can minimise the disruption in getting our precious wines out to our valued customers.
Both myself and our dedicated and nimble team are adapting to the challenges ahead (note as I write this located out of our caravan evacuated in Wangaratta being fed by my mother!). Although the current situation prevents us from being onsite at the winery, we will be working hard offsite to ensure we can continue to service you, our customers, as best we can. Business continuity is our priority for our staff and our region, with the fires likely to burn for some time it will be a slow return to normality onsite.
So YES! You can still reach us to order your favourite Feathertop Wines. Showing your support by purchasing from us or any other business affected by fires this summer is the best and most direct way you can help all of us get back up and running. So if you can’t come and visit us, we will reach out to you (from our satellite offices of course!). We are confident we can give it a very good crack!
If you are in the area and you see our gates open, please call in to say hi, we’d love to serve you
Please help us and our region recover and ensure we that continue to keep our regional communities vibrant and strong.
Janelle on behalf the Feathertop team
PS Note we will call customers on a week by week basis for any and all upcoming prior bookings to discuss onsite capacity, as it is too hard at this point to anticipate the forward plan in advance.
You can still contact the winery for any enquiries/sales on 03 5756 2356 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org . Please also follow us on Facebook and Instagram for daily updates on our opening hours and what’s on.
