The 2018 vintage was cooler than normal, with low night time temperatures extending harvest and giving the grapes more “hang time” to develop flavours before reaching optimum sugar levels. This is a dream scenario for any winemaker, especially when producing wines from naturally late ripening varieties such as Friulano. This
wine is displaying a complexity of flavour we rarely see, with layers and layers of ripe stone fruit, fresh and roasted almond and zesty lemon flavours combining to form a deceptively powerful palate. The ultra fine natural phenolics help to give the wine texture and ‘grip’ and the crisp acidity leaves the finish long and dry. The 2018 Friulano comes into its’ own when matched with food and will continue to improve with time in bottle.
