The regional wine of Friuli in North East Italy and yet another variety that thrives in the sub-Alpine climate of the Feathertop vineyard. As with the Vermentino, the 2017 Friulano is an obvious shift in style from its predecessor. Whilst not as rich and expressive as the 2016 version, it lacks nothing in complexity, power and mouthfeel. Flavours and aromas of fresh stone fruit, almonds and lemon zest are supported by a vibrant acid structure. The drying phenolics that come naturally to Friulano are as fine as talc and leave the palate long, dry and screaming for more. Another wine that lends itself beautifully to a variety of foods and will only improve with time.
