Sangiovese is Italy’s most famous and widely planted red wine variety with a history stretching back to ancient Roman times. Its’ high regard can be summed up by the literal translation of its’ name, the “Blood of Jove”, referring to the Roman god Jupiter. We have also had a love affair with Sangiovese for many years but held off planting it in the Feathertop vineyard until we could source the best clones that slowly became available out of Italy. We think our patience has been richly rewarded with this Sangiovese from the famed 2015 vintage. Complex flavours of sour dark cherry, black olives, ripe tomatoes and dried herbs lead a savoury palate balanced by firm, dry tannins. A fabulous food friendly wine that will bring out the Italian in all of us!!
