A poor flowering and fruit set in late 2015 resulted in close to no crop of Petit Verdot for the 2016 vintage. Whilst it is disappointing news for all the lovers of that variety, it has given us the opportunity to produce a blend that is close to the hearts of many of us here at Feathertop. This 60/40 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese is our homage to the famed wines of Italy’s Tuscany region. The Cabernet provides the rich, ripe red and black berry characters along with the taut, linear tannin structure. The Sangiovese brings the complex dark cherry, black olive and dry savouriness to the blend. Together they are a match made in heaven, extremely food friendly and lip-smackingly delicious.
